Well, the first part is pretty much in the name! It’s a discord server for people who write Destiel fanfiction :) we have just over 150 members (although obviously not everyone is active and definitely not all at once.) 

We also have three (usually two, Sammy is only around in November) bots, although we’re still working on finding a way to get them hosted online when all three mods are sort of coding noobs (at least I am). Benny, one of our bots, has built in features that allow him to send motivating messages, writing prompts, inspirational quotes and even flirt with the people interacting with him. It’s just a bit of fun!

There are a few reasons we consider it a positive environment. First, you can police your own experience. Acquired taste channels like NSFW, cockles, salty, spoilers and multishipping are all locked to a role, which you request upon entering the server. You can also @ a mod to change them at any point if your interests change. So you never have to see anything you don’t want to.

We have a #comment canvas room, where you can showcase compliments, kudos, comments that you got on your fics, or simply read the nice things others have! There’s also a room for ideas, seeking alphas and betas (inspiration and improving yourself and your writing always breeds positivity IMO), things like that.

We also have like active writing challenges to keep people inspired, all of which can go into our AO3 collection. We have the Daily Prompt - temporarily closed for bang season (a single word that should be the subject of a drabble that’s exactly five sentences), the Weekly Words (5k or less weekly writing prompt), the Lusty Lexis (a no-limit weekly smut prompt), and we’re testing out a cowriting challenge in a trial round atm.

We also have a NaNoWriMo area, and we host server-exclusive Camp NaNoWriMo cabins to encourage each other in April and July.

But honestly, the most positive thing about the server is the people. I’ve made some amazing friends in there and there are people who are kind and welcoming and encourage in the best way. If you want to join anon, I completely recommend it. I’ve been in other writing servers and felt out of place, but WoD is wonderful.
